Clean Air Barnet (CAB) has been created as part of the Breathe London initiative to raise awareness about our local air quality and encourage action to both improve it and protect health.
The strategy pointed to the poor air quality in Golders Green, worse than areas in central London, and since then a member of the Town Team, working with Middlesex University, has installed an air monitor outside the bus and tube station – and recent data shows that while the air quality in Golders Green meets current UK targets it does not meet the more stringent WHO guidance for healthy air.
Please visit the excellent website (www.breathelondon.org) which explains the data and compares real time results from monitors across the whole of London. (Hotter, less windy days in the summer could be alarming!).
The node is attached to a lamppost, opposite the Hippodrome next to Golders Green tube station.
Transparency will drive awareness and will prompt action…
